The dangers of proton pump inhibitors

Proton-pump inhibitors are one of the most popular over the counter medications in America. They are used to treat acid reflux, heartburn and stomach ulcers

Did you know that proton pump inhibitors or PPIs (such as Prevacid, Prilosec, Nexium, Protonix, etc) deplete important nutrients such as magnesium and B12?

On top of that, a new study (Estimates of all cause mortality and cause specific mortality associated with proton pump inhibitors among US veterans) demonstrated an increased risk of stomach cancer, heart and kidney disease, and increased risk of premature death, with PPI use.

Why are you taking PPIs? Remember, symptoms are your body's way of telling you something is wrong. Instead of taking a PPI to silence this symptom, listen to what your body is telling you and get to the root cause of your issue with a functional practitioner. .
